Famous People Who Have Gone To Prison

11 Famous People Who Have Gone to Prison

Many think that when celebrities are charged with a crime, they generally get off because they’re rich or because they’re beautiful or because they “know” people. But that is simply not true. Yes, famous people can and do hire the best lawyers that money can buy and that certainly helps their defense but money and fame doesn’t always save a celeb from serving time.   The truth is big names do have trouble with the law and have gone to prison. From brief stints to decades behind bars, here are some famous people who went to prison …

Robert Downey Jr.

In 1999, Robert Downey Jr, a PROOF favorite, was sentenced to three years in prison for repeatedly violating probation on drug and weapons charges. He was given credit for 200 days of time served but the rest he served at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran, California. Though the name makes it sounds a little light as if it were more treatment based than prison based, the truth is and has Downey made clear, his temporary home in Corcoran was no country club.  But, Downey completed his sentence, got clean, went on to hit it big as Iron Man and in what is likely one of the more important things that has happened to him in his life had his conviction pardoned. For more information on Downey’s pardon, watch this PROOF video.

Martha Stewart

After a six-week trial, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart was found guilty of felony charges of conspiracy, obstruction of an agency proceeding and making false statements to federal investigators. In July 2004, Stewart was sentenced to a five-month term in a federal correctional facility; she did that stint at Federal Prison Camp in Alderson, W. Va.

In high school, we’re sure Stewart would have been voted Least Likely To Go To Prison so certainly her imprisonment shocked some! We also know that prison wasn’t quite so bad for Stewart who was said to have passed the time there cooking, gardening, making crafts and exercising. Doesn’t sound like life behind bars was all that different for Stewart! Since her release she doesn’t seem to have suffered much either professionally. Busy as she always was–and that’s a good thing!

O.J. Simpson

We all know that O.J. wasn’t convicted of the murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Simpson; and most of us also know that in a very interesting turn of justice, on October 3, 2008, 13 years after he was acquitted of those murders, Simpson was found guilty of other crimes–ten charges in fact including armed robbery and kidnapping. These charges resulted from an incident in which Simpson lead a group men men who broke into a hotel room at the Palace Station Hotel in Las Vegas with the intent to steal sports memorabilia.

On December 5, 2008, Simpson was sentenced to a minimum of 9 years in prison and a maximum of 33 years for those acts. The Juice is currently serving his sentence in Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada. He is eligible for parole October 2017. No secret to PROOF readers, prison is where we hope he stays.

T.I.

Rapper T.I. (whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris) was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for federal weapons charges in March 2009.  U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr. also ordered T.I. to pay $100,300. Not a bad deal for T.I. because if he hadn’t plead he was looking at a maximum of 10 years and a $250,000 fine.

T.I. began serving his time at FCC Forrest City, a low-security prison in Arkansas. He was released approximately 9 months later, on December 22, 2009 and from there was moved into a halfway house in Atlanta. The hip-hop artist was released in March 2010. In 2016, T.I. was arrested for drug possession (which violated his probation for the weapons charge) but lucky for him, he was not ordered to do any more time.

Phil Spector

Infamous music producer Phil Spector is a famous person in prison. Spector is currently serving his 19 years to life sentence for the second degree murder of Lana Clarkson at the California Health Care Facility, California State Prison in Stockton, California. The “Wall of Sound” creator will be 88 years old before he will be eligible for parole.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson was one of many famous people who went to prison. The boxer was convicted on charges of rape on February 10, 1992. The heavyweight was sentenced to six years in prison followed by four years on probation. Despite his age, the 25-year-old began his stint at the Indiana Youth Center in April 1992. After serving less than three years, he was released in March 1995. Though Tyson’s life has been fraught with headlines and conflict, he has managed to stay out of prison.

Wesley Snipes

After being convicted of three misdemeanor counts of failing to file federal income tax returns, “Passenger 57” actor Wesley Snipes began his three-year federal prison sentence on December 9, 2010 at McKean Federal Correctional Institution, a federal prison in Pennsylvania. Snipes was eventually released on April 2, 2013. Unfortunately, seem as if his career has not taken flight since his release.

Heidi Fleiss

Another famous person in prison is Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss. She was arrested, tried and convicted back in 1994. Her state conviction was overturned but she was convicted on federal charges of tax evasion in September 1996. She was sentenced to seven years in prison, but only served 20 months at the Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin in California. The personality was released into a halfway house on November 19, 1998 and had to do 370 hours of community service before being released from the halfway house. Since her release in September 1999, Fleiss has been in and out of rehab and got engaged to Dennis Hof, the infamous owner of Nevada’s Moonlite BunnyRanch. Great judgement does not seem to be one of Fleiss’ strong suits!

Tim Allen

Before he was Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor on “Home Improvement,” Tim Allen (then known as Tim Allen Dick) was in the joint. The then-25-year-old was found in possession of over 650 grams of Colombian cocaine at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport in Michigan. Due to state law, the amount of drugs he was found with (a pound and a half!) could have led to life sentence in prison. But instead, the funny man rolled over on his associates — 21 people in fact. Due to his giving up names, Allen brought his sentence down to three to seven years.  He only served two years and four months. He was paroled on June 12, 1981 in Federal Correctional Institution, Sandstone in Sandstone, Minnesota. And we all know what happened to him after he got out of the big house — he made it big!

Don King

Another famous person who went to prison is legendary boxing promoter Don King, who has charged with killing two men 13 years apart. In 1954, King shot a man who was robbing one of his gambling houses. The death was ruled a justifiable homicide. In 1967, King was convicted of second degree murder for stomping to death his employee, Sam Garrett, who owed him $600. Ordinarily being convicted of second degree murder would warrant a life sentence but in a surprising move, the presiding judge reduced the conviction to nonnegligent manslaughter. King served less than four years and was pardoned in 1983 by Ohio Governor Jim Rhodes.

Charles S. Dutton

When Charles S. Dutton was 17 he was convicted of manslaughter. He spent seven years in prison. Soon after his release, he was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon, and was sentenced to three more years in prison.

Here’s the best part: During a six-day stint in solitary confinement, Dutton accidentally grabbed an anthology of black playwrights and became immersed in the plays. Upon leaving solitary, he petitioned the warden to start a drama group for the Christmas talent show, which the warden agreed to on the sole condition that Dutton get his GED. He complied. While in prison he completed a two-year college program at Hagerstown Junior College.  Upon his release, Dutton enrolled as a drama major at Towson State University and graduated in 1978. He then went on to earn a master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama in 1983. This is one of those stories about famous people who have gone to prison that has a happy ending–for Dutton and his fans at least, certainly not the crime victim.

Can the LAPD Stop the Knock-Knock Burglars?

The facts seem more like the plot to a new Home Alone sequel instead of real life — but real life it is. There has been a rash of burglaries targeted at celebrities and other wealthy elite in the San Fernando Valley (yes, “The Valley”) and the crimes have been committed by the so-called “knock-knock burglars.”

Why knock-knock burglaries? It’s actually not very creative (not sure we want our cops being creative anyway; we’ve got enough creatives in LA!) but basically these burglars are groups of 3 or 4 people (aka gang members, according to LAPD. And when I say gang members, I mean real gang members despite the cutesy knock-knock name), one person knocks on the front door and once that person confirms, via the knock, that no one is home, he signals to the others and they look for doors and windows in which to access the house. The goal is not to hurt anyone personally or to engage in violence, rather it’s all about “the stuff.” The burglars then drive quickly from the scene and get rid of the goods by going to pawn shops or gold melting facilities–they keep the cash, as it’s not traceable.

Though the wealthy may be in fear over their lost riches there is a bevy of police power  on the case. Lt. Todd Hankel, commanding officer of LAPD’s West Valley Area detectives, said that the San Fernando Valley Knock Knock Burglary Task Force is targeting the criminal street gang members who have been preying on the residents living in the ritzy communities such as Studio City, Woodland Hills, Encino, Tarzana, Sherman Oaks, Chatsworth and Porter Ranch.

This news comes after Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young was the target of a recent theft in February with the criminals stealing cash and other valuables worth approximately $500,000. He’s not the only NBA star losing his loot. On Jan. 30, former Lakers player Derek Fisher’s Tarzana home was broken into, with thieves taking cash, jewelry and more worth approximately $300,000.  Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig’s Sherman Oaks home was also hit by the knock-knock burglars.

But it’s not just the Valley that’s getting hit. PROOF had a one on one chat with Detective Dunn of the LAPD and the burglars are hitting homes from Santa Barbara to San Bernadino all the way to Newport. Apparently, celebs living in Malibu are a little safer than others because it’s just so darn hard to get out of Malibu quickly–PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) and the canyon roads leading out of Malibu are the only ways in and out and if those roads get backed up the burglars are stuck with a car full of stolen loot.  According to Detective Dunn, the knock-knock burglars want to get rid of the goods and turn it into cash as soon as possible. Maybe Nicki Minaj who lives in LA and had approximately $200,000 worth of items stolen as well as damage to her home and Alanis Morisette whose Brentwood home was also cleared out should consider a move. (And really it’s an extra bummer for Morisette who suffered another recent financial loss when her manager stole millions from her. Click here for full article on that theft).

But fret not famous people with lots of money and expensive things! According to the LAPD, the task force consists of roughly 30 officers divided among surveillance teams, undercover detectives and patrol cars working to prevent and curb these incidents. And, task forces such as this have been formed in the past and have been effective in reducing the number of burglaries, Detective Dunn told us!  But celebs, watch your dogs because although the goal of the knock-knock burglars isn’t to engage in violence they are known to pepper spray dogs when they encounter them inside homes.

We think it’s great that there is a task force to help stop these crimes but celebs maybe lay off social media and stop tweeting, posting and instagramming your every move and you might avoid being hit. The fact is, when you let the bad guys know where we you at all times, you make it pretty easy on them.

Stay safe!

Abby Lee Miller Going to Prison for Fraud

Former “Dance Moms” star Abby Lee Miller pleaded guilty in June 2016 to bankruptcy fraud and bringing foreign currency into the country illegally. On May 9, 2017 she was sentenced to one year and one day in jail and ordered to pay a fine of $40,000. Not bad considering if she were convicted of the initial charges she could have served five years in prison.

Her crimes were kind of interesting in that prosecutors charged her with hiding $775,000 in income when she filed for bankruptcy, and with having her friends bring her Australian currency into the United States hidden in plastic bags (We know what you’re thinking, Abby Lee Miller has friends???)

Her attorneys argued at her sentencing that she shouldn’t receive jail time because she allegedly paid back all of the money she owed after the fraud was discovered. They further argued that Miller wasn’t a criminal, just an inexperienced businesswoman.

That didn’t sway the judge, who told Miller that she had “lost her moral compass.” While we agree with the court in not buying her excuse, we can’t say that Miller lost her moral compass at the time the crime was committed. Have you seen Dance Moms and the way that she would treat those kids (and their moms!)? At PROOF, we think Miller lost her moral compass way before she broke the law. Also, some of the dance moms attended the sentencing but allegedly not to support their children’s’ long time teacher.

In any event, in typical Abby Lee Miller style, the former reality tv star appears to be making the best of things, telling “Good Morning America” after the sentencing, “I’m just going to pretend I’m shooting a movie and we’re on set and I’m there for 10 months. That’s the way it’s going to be.”

Well, maybe with all that time she will find the moral compass she lost all those years ago and she won’t be just another reality tv casualty.

celebrity News | Michael irvin accused of rape

Michael Irvin, Former Dallas Cowboy, Under Investigation for Rape

Michael Irvin, former wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys is under investigation by Fort Lauderdale police for sexual battery. A 27-year-old woman claimed he raped her at the W hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on March 21, 2017. Irvin denies the claims. Oddly this is the third time Irvin has been accused of sexual assault. Note though, he has never been formally charged in connection with any of those accusations. Very odd indeed.

The former Cowboy claims that the woman was a longtime friend of his, and has stated that the hotel’s surveillance footage would vindicate him. The football star says he and a group of friends were drinking until 4:30am when the woman followed him back to his hotel room. He claims that she was very drunk and that they were only in the room 15 minutes before he left to catch a flight, so he couldn’t have raped her. The “I was only was in there for 15 minutes, so nothing could have happened” is not a legal defense that is going to work. He is going to have to come up with something better which we guess is his goal by continuing to claim he did not have sexual contact with the woman.

According to the report, the woman said that she and Irvin were in a bar together before going back to their room. She claims she felt sick and only remembers fighting off his advances. She then told cops she feared she had been drugged and raped, and went to a medical facility to have a swab and blood test done. That last step was a smart move.

Irvin’s lawyer, Larry Friedman, said the following about the incident: “Michael was in Fort Lauderdale visiting his nieces and nephews at a track meet. He was also visiting his 90-year-old aunt and attending her birthday party. He was blindsided by news of these allegations.” The lawyer went on to say, “Even the complaint that she made specifically says she does not recall the events that took place. She was very drunk that night. Nothing happened and there was no assault.”

Of course, at this point the only two people who know what happened in that room is Irvin and the woman but the fact that she alleges she was drugged certainly makes recalling the event difficult.  Hopefully the medical evidence collected will help reveal the truth in this very troubling situation.

Kendall Jenner robbed | celebrity news

Kendall Jenner is the Latest Kardashian to Have Her Jewelry Stolen

Another day, another Kardashian crime victim–thankfully no threat of violence in this one.

Kendall Jenner is reporting that $200,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from her jewelry box in her Hollywood Hills home. While this theft occurred in the midst of the rash of celebrity burglaries at the hands of the knock-knock burglars, it’s not likely the result of that gang of thieves (For more information about the recent knock-knock burglaries, click here).  Most think the culprit is someone Kendall knows or a friend of a friend who has access to her house because there were no signs of forced entry at the property.

On March 15, the 21-year-old hosted a party at her $6.5 million mansion, but for some reason she left her home for about an hour around midnight. Kendall’s security guard was stationed outside of the home but that didn’t prevent the bling stealing. Both a Rolex and Cartier are among Kendall’s missing goods. Apparently, Kendall didn’t realize the items were missing until after 1 AM but she called the police as soon as she did and reported the theft.

Much like her sister, Kim after the Paris burglary, Kendall fired the security guard who was hired to protect her and her house. Can’t imagine either of these guys thought they might be keeping their jobs. Good, swift decision, Kendall. You need someone who can actually do what they’re hired to do.

To date a suspect has not been identified but Jenner’s home has surveillance cameras so police are hopeful the footage will help find whoever is responsible for this crime.

Obviously we do not think Kendall deserved this anymore than Kim did or all the other celebs who have had their property stolen these past few months but police do suggest that celebs stop posting about their lavish lives on social media — it just makes it all too easy for criminals.

Interestingly, Detective Dunn of the LAPD also suggests that celebs “go public” and describe what has been stolen as it can help recover the items. For example, this has helped recover a stolen Super Bowl ring, among other things.

Though we know it’s not popular to say we feel bad for a Kardashian but we do feel sorry for Kendall. At PROOF we don’t like to see anyone used, taken advantage of or being the victim of a crime just because of who they are. We hope the thief responsible is apprehended and the world soon knows the type of “friend” this person really is.

Are Aaron Hernandez Tattoos Evidence? | Celeb News | Proof with Jill Stanley

Aaron Hernandez Murder Conviction Vacated

When former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez died on April 19, 2017 he was a convicted murderer, now, less than a month later, that conviction has been wiped from his record.

On May 9, 2017, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh vacated Hernandez’ first-degree murder conviction resulting from the 2013 death of Odin L. Lloyd, citing a centuries-old law that states that convictions can be vacated if the defendant is in the process of appealing.

State prosecutors opposed the conviction being vacated and have vowed to take the case to the state Supreme Court. They argue that the law, which dates back to colonial times, was precisely the reason that Hernandez committed suicide.

Bristol Assistant District Attorney Patrick Bomberg said, “This is not a defendant who has arrived at the killing of himself by happenstance.” He and fellow prosecutors argued that Hernandez knew about the law and committed suicide to clear his legal standing, which could benefit his heirs. Some experts have speculated that a vacated conviction would enable his heirs to collect an almost $6 million contract from the Patriots that had been withheld when he was arrested.

But that argument didn’t sway the judge, who ruled, “This court cannot know why Hernandez may have chosen to end his life and declines to infer an intent by Hernandez to relinquish his appellate rights or an intent to interfere with the course of justice from his reported suicide, a tragic act that may have complex and myriad causes.”

Naturally, Odin Lloyd’s family members were not pleased with the court’s ruling. They openly wept in court and his mother Ursula Ward told reporters of Hernandez, “In our book, he’s guilty, and he’s going to always be guilty.” Ms. Ward, we at PROOF agree with you. But, know that he wasn’t found innocent by a jury or a judge the vacating of his conviction is simply what some would refer to as legal technicality. And although we know it doesn’t feel good or fair, unfortunately it happens in the law. Perhaps the prosecution will win the appeal and the conviction will be reinstated. In the meantime, pursuing the civil case against Hernandez’ estate may ultimately bring some sense of peace or justice.

And, as far as the civil case against Hernandez’ estate, it is and should go on. While it certainly would have been beneficial to have been able to admit into evidence Hernandez’ criminal conviction (it would have taken care of a lot of proof issues) the burden of proof in a civil matter is much lower than in a criminal matter which most know is beyond a reasonable doubt. As such, proving the underlying act–that Hernandez murdered Lloyd–will not be as difficult as it were at the criminal level. Put plainly, if there was enough proof to obtain a criminal conviction, then if that same proof is presented and understood correctly by the jury in the civil case, it should be more than sufficient to support the finding that Hernandez caused Lloyd’s wrongful death.

In fact PROOF readers, you recall that OJ was acquitted at the criminal level but was found liable at the civil level.

Another potential positive side effect of the conviction being set aside is if the 6 million from the NFL becomes available then it could potentially be used to satisfy a judgment that the jury in the civil matter awards to the Lloyd family

And another twist in the Hernandez saga? His attorneys aren’t wholly convinced that his death was a suicide or if it were, that it couldn’t have been prevented. Hernandez was found hanging from a window in his jail cell with a bedsheet around his neck, and though the state says there was no wrongdoing and it was a suicide, Hernandez’ legal team, led by Jose Baez, is conducting its own investigation into his death. It is not unlikely that Hernandez’s family will file a lawsuit if they think officials didn’t do enough to prevent his death or if they created a condition which allowed his death to occur.

If there is one thing that can be said about the Hernandez matter it is that it is tragic all around.

Celebrity Mug Shot

From Shailene Woodley to Justin Bieber: The Best of Celebrity Mug Shots

From bar bust ups to drunk driving to “unintentional” trespassing and more, celebrities are no strangers to arrests. And of course with an arrest comes the dreaded celebrity mug shot, which is sure to be plastered across the Internet even before the celeb has called his lawyer!

Celebrity mug shots might just be our favorite form of selfie– well, it’s not really as selfie but we sure do like looking at them (Must be because without make up, the right lighting, a professional photographer and some retouching most celebs look a lot more like we do than we thought!).

Check out some of the celebrity mug shots of Hollywood hottest stars, and even a few of those  forgotten about players who just happen to have a celebrity mug shot worth talking about!

Shailene Woodley

shailene-woodley-mugshot-2000

Reese Witherspoon isn’t the only “Big Little Lies” cast member to have her celebrity mug shot taken. “Divergent” star Shailene Woodley also had a run in with the law. And though we might be biased because we absolutely love Shailene Woodley, we have to say  that out of all the celebrity mug shots, Woodley’s is pretty much the most adorable!

So, how’d she get to be part of the celebrity mug shot walk of fame? On October 10, 2016, Woodley and 27 other people were arrested during a protest at Standing Rock, while attempting to block the Dakota Access pipeline. Live footage of the actress’ arrest was streamed to roughly 40,000 viewers via her Facebook page. Later, she was strip searched in jail. I know, it seems weird to strip search someone following this type of offense and though kinda gross one can likely conclude that it might be related to her celebrity status (imagine those bragging rights?!) but despite Woodley also being “just shocked” by the strip search, apparently is is common practice in that jurisdiction for low level crimes.  Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chair Dave Archambault II and others have also been strip-searched after being arrested for nonviolent civil disobedience against the pipeline.

After the arrest and resulting strip search, the environmental activist said: “Every time we allow another pipeline … we are endorsing the fossil fuel industry and only prolonging the time it is going to take to switch to renewable energy.”

We at PROOF aren’t fans of breaking the law but Woodley’s cause was a noble and good one.  We commend her for her bravery and standing up for what she believes in–no matter the consequences.  Keep fighting the good fight, Shailene!

Reese Witherspoon

reese

The “Big Little Lies” actress and her husband, Jim Toth, were arrested in Atlanta in 2013. Toth was pulled over for suspicion of driving while intoxicated in Atlanta. Apparently Reese didn’t like that so much. So much so that she got into an argument with the police officer, which led to her arrest.

This celebrity mug shot is pretty unusual because it’s a pretty unusual mug shot for anyone — Witherspoon is looking down! The whole point of mug shots are for identification purposes. We have to wonder if the Atlanta PD gave the superstar a pass on looking at the camera because of her A-list status.

Either way, shortly after her jail release, the actress issued a statement saying there was “no excuse” for her behavior.

“I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”

Nick Carter

rs_560x420-160114095039-560.nick-carter-mug-shot.11416

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter may not have wanted it that way (sorry, sometimes we just can’t help ourselves with these puns!!) when he was arrested in Florida on January 13, 2016. The boybander was booked by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on a misdemeanor battery charge following an incident outside Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West.

The singer was released after pleading not guilty and posting $1,500 bail. He was ordered to stay away from the bar.

Unfortunately for Carter, an employee at the Hog’s Breath, Skylar Carden, 21, filed a civil lawsuit against Carter a few weeks later, in which he accused the singer and former “Dancing with the Stars” runner-up of battery.

In a statement accompanying the lawsuit, Carter’s lawyer, Mark DiCowden’s said, “Nick Carter has shown the world that he is nothing more than a backstreet thug.” And you thought our pun was bad? Nick Carter,a thug? And what’s a backstreet thug?? All we picture is a good looking boy band member singing romantic songs. That’s not so scary! But the lawsuit did contain some scary allegations including that the singer “violently attacked” Carden by “striking and choking” him.

Carter settled the matter out of court–the terms of the settlement are not public–and the case was dismissed with prejudice (remember this means Carden can’t bring the suit again for any reason).

Pawn Stars Austin “Chumlee” Russell

GettyImages-514547872_1464063775115_2473892_ver1.0

Austin “Chumlee” Russell, star of the History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” was arrested in Las Vegas on March 10, 2016 and charged with drug possession and “prohibited person in possession of a firearm,” according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

Here’s the really crazy part of this story: officers were serving a warrant at the reality star’s house for a sexual assault case when they found Russell with at least one gun, as well as with methamphetamine and marijuana.

In May 2016, Russell pleaded guilty in Las Vegas court to attempted possession of a controlled substance. As a result of the deal, Russell did not have to go to jail for the misdemeanor charge, instead he was sentenced to three years’ probation. The felony count of ownership or possession of a firearm by a prohibited person was stayed. If Russell completes the terms of his probation, the gun charge will be dismissed. And, that sexual assault charge that started the whole thing? Police have confirmed that Russell has not been charged at the time for that.

Bill Cosby

bill-cosby-mugshoit

We know we talk about Bill Cosby a lot on PROOF but we can’t help it, there are just so many aspects of his wrongdoing that make for excellent legal lessons!  And so, Bill Cosby’s infamous celebrity mug shot, which was years in the making after dozens upon dozens of accusations. As PROOF readers know, there is only one criminal case going forward against the disgraced funny man. He has been free on $1 million bail, but faces up to 10 years in jail for each of the sexual assault counts he is facing.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s office in Pennsylvania, where he is set to stand trial, released this mugshot shortly after his arraignment. Those do not look like the same kindly eyes of Dr. Huxtable. Unbelievable downfall.

Shia Labeouf

shia_mug

Shia Labeouf has been arrested more than once but of course his most famous celebrity mug shot was after getting drunk at Broadway musical “Cabaret” in New York City. In this shot, Labeouf has a big smile on his face and looks like he’s been crying. It’s unnerving to say the least!

According to police, the “Transformers” star was smoking inside the Studio 54 theater and acting “loud and disruptive” during the first act of the musical. Law enforcement officials were notified. The “Transformers” actor was arrested during intermission, handcuffed, and escorted out of the theater.

He was then charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of criminal trespassing before being released.

Shia has since been arrested again in connection with his HeWillNotDivide.US protest but was also quickly released. For more information on that, click here.

Dustin Diamond

diamond26f-5-web

We all loved super nerd Screech on Saved by the Bell, too bad that geeky kid turned out to be such a not-so-great adult. Dustin Diamond gave off some seriously dangerous vibes when he made his way into the celebrity mug shots wall of fame after he was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly stabbing a man with a switchblade on Christmas Day 2014.

The former teen actor was charged with possession of a switchblade, reckless endangerment and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was later convicted of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. He served nearly three months in jail.

Lindsay Lohan

184816.max-620x600

We love this one of Lindsay Lohan’s celebrity mug shots because she’s just so over it. She’s like — been there, done that!

This is the redhead’s mugshot from March 19, 2013 when she turned herself into the Santa Monica police. She eventually pleaded no contest to reckless driving and providing false information to the police who were investigating an accident that happened the previous summer.

The troubled star was sentenced to 90 days in a lockdown rehab facility.  Want more information about Lohan and the criminal justice system, click here and here.

Justin Bieber

justin-bieber-mug-600

Oh, Justin! We love you but you make it so hard on us sometimes.  What do we at PROOF have to say about our favorite bad boy’s celebrity mug shot? Well, does is not look like Bieber is having the best day of his life? Does to us! In reality though he has just been arrested for a DUI and drag-racing in Miami in 2014. Must have been a really fun race!

On the serious side though, at a press conference, a spokesperson for Miami Beach Police said that the arresting officer “smelled odor of alcoholic beverage” on the singer. Bieber was also charged with driving with an expired license and resisting arrest without violence.

We at PROOF are crossing our fingers and hoping that there are no celebrity mug shots of Bieber–even if they do look as good as this one!

At PROOF we love celebrity news as much as you do.  So if you want more, celebrity news about A-Listers (and others!), we welcome you to explore the rest of the site.

Kardashian’s DASH Store Continues to Face Problems

The last few months have been tough ones in terms of the law for the Kardashians and their legal dramas continue as the LA outpost of their clothing store, Dash, was vandalized in the early hours of March 16, 2017. A vandal spray painted the front of the West Hollywood location. He/she (at the time of this writing the suspect has not yet been identified) certainly wanted to get noticed– bright red paint was the color of choice to mar the store front. Dash employees acted quickly and the act of vandalism was promptly cleaned up. The storefront was not significantly damaged (If it were, insurance would have kicked in but then Dash would not be looking quite so lovely quite so quickly as insurance companies are not known for their speedy response time to claims!)

This isn’t the first time, the Dash West Hollywood on Melrose has had issues with vandals. Last June a man threw a molotov cocktail into the store’s window. Luckily, the shop was closed at the time so no one was injured. The fiery “bomb” did shatter the store window but not much else was damaged. That’s good news because a sweatshirt at Dash will set a shopper back a cool hundred (though again, insurance would kick in to cover damaged merchandise).

Dash’s original store in Calabasas (the SoCal town where the Kardashians live) was the target of a spray paint “event” back in 2009 and though the message was sweet, it’s still vandalism–a fan tagged, “We love you Kim,” on the store’s window. It happened another time at the Calabasas location and also at the Miami store.

Dash doesn’t  seem to be having much luck, despite the enormous fame of the owners. The Kardashian sisters closed the Dash NYC location this past December (which, by the way, we at PROOF have been in several times and really liked!) and the Las Vegas location has been shuttered for more than two years. We know most things these sisters touch turns to gold but maybe retail just isn’t for them?
